The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) performs both administrative and clinical duties; under the direction of the nurse, prepares patients for examination and treatment by health care provider. Interviews patients, reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment. Measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and records information in patients’ electronic health record. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients and may be required to prepare specimens for laboratory analysis. CMA will be proficient on the PCMH concept.
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required; 2 yrs community healthcare experience a plus, Certification in Medical Assistance and valid CPR certification required.
