Job Summary
Summary<br>The primary purpose of your job is to provide packaging and sterilization inventory of all sterile supplies for various areas of the hospital in compliance specific policies and procedures as dictated by standards set by OSHA, FDA and EPA.Must have CRCST and CER certifications within one year of hire.<br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>Yes<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Develops and maintains knowledge of all equipment and supplies in C.S.R. <br>
-Maintains and conducts inventories on a daily basis and to include special order items. <br>
-Fills orders and issues supplies as ordered/requested. <br>
-Checks, folds and stores paper wraps used for packaging supplies. <br>
-Cleans and checks all equipment. <br>
-Checks for outdated supplies on a monthly basis. <br>
-Delivers sterile instruments to various areas of the hospital. <br>
-ACCOUNTABILITY: STERILIZATION VIA STEAM AND ETO. <br>
-Develops and maintains knowledge of fundamentals of cleaning and principles of sterilization, including knowledge of aseptic techniques. <br>
-Cleans and prepares items for the appropriate sterilization process. <br>
-Performs a weekly biological indicator test in each sterilizer and each load in Gas and records results. <br>
-Knowledge of disassembly of instruments for proper cleaning and re-assembly. <br>
-Inspect integrity of instruments. <br>
-Uses appropriate packing and method of sterilization for instruments. <br>
-ACCOUNTABILITY: STERILIZATION VIA GETINGE-CASTLE AND 3M STERILIZERS. <br>
-Develops and maintains knowledge of storage principles for sterile and non-sterile items used, including knowledge of aseptic technique. <br>
-Cleans and prepares items for sterilization and sterilizes them. <br>
-Perform a weekly biological test pack for each sterilizer and document results. <br>
-Runs daily bowie Dick test pack in steam autoclaves. <br>
-ACCOUNTABILITY: MAINTAINS ASSIGNED AREAS/SUPPLIES. <br>
-Keeps all shelves and work areas clean. <br>
-ACCOUNTABILITY: OTHER/SPECIAL. <br>
-Performs other duties as assigned or required. <br>
-Maintains appropriate attire and head covering for CSR. <br>
-Attends monthly in-service/staff meetings. <br>
-Attends annual mandatory review. <br>
-Completes CRCST course and maintains certification annually. <br>
-Runs biological indicators with all implants/screws, and records results. <br>
-Responsible for ordering all non-sterile implants for inventory and supply area. <br>
-Troubleshoot processors and contacts proper service representatives when repair is indicated. <br>
-Uses appropriate cleaning solutions for instruments and reusable OR equipment. <br>
-CRCST in Charge position is responsible for weekly staff scheduling and monthly QI reports. <br>
-CRCST status – 12 points a year, as part of ongoing CEU’s. <br>
Qualifications
Education High School Diploma or Equivalent required Can this role accept experience in lieu of a degree? No Licenses and Credentials Certified Registered Central Service Technician [CRCST] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) required Certified Endoscope Reprocessor [CER] - Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) required Experience Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Complete course leading to certification as a C.S.R. - Technician preferred. - Knowledge of medical terms is essential.
