We run a Chinese-language news service (CBN), with journalists in more than 10 bureaus across Asia, Europe and the US breaking news and curating stories that resonate with Chinese-speaking audiences. Our reporting is available on the Bloomberg Terminal, and through podcasts and newsletters. We are seeking an experienced editor for CBN. Based in New York or Washington DC, the successful candidate will join a dynamic team that produces markets-focused content for Chinese-reading clients around the globe. The role involves monitoring, translating, writing and editing compelling stories that resonate with a Chinese-reading audience. It goes beyond straight translation work, with members of the team encouraged to add value by applying news and editorial judgement to the content they produce. While the primary focus will be on Chinese-language stories, the candidate will also be expected to work closely with counterparts across the newsroom, including those working in English. The successful candidate will also embrace Bloomberg’s cutting-edge AI capabilities to enhance speed, accuracy and consistency across the translation and editing workflow. We'll trust you to: - Provide accurate, fast and comprehensive English-to-Chinese news translations in a high-speed and high-pressure environment- Demonstrate outstanding news judgement on stories related to global markets, economic and political trends- Create content, write and edit copy designed to provide insight for Chinese-reading traders, analysts and money managers- Leverage Bloomberg’s cutting-edge AI features and newsroom tools to facilitate translation, editing and story production, while applying strong editorial oversight and accountability - Work effectively across multiple teams and platforms, including close collaboration with English-language colleagues You will need to have: - A Bachelor's degree or above - Proven news judgement and a strong sense of urgency - Minimum 3 years of experience working in journalism or the financial industry - Solid knowledge and understanding of the economy and financial markets as well as the dynamics that move various asset prices - Excellent translating, writing and editing skills in primarily Chinese language - Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English Salary Range = 90000 - 125000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
