Position Summary:

This position is an entry level Convention Services/Catering position and responsible for booking catering only

bookings (events with no guestrooms). Coordinating rooms only bookings and assist with

Destination Services. This position is also responsible for monitoring the accuracy of physical

sets within meeting spaces according to banquet event orders and diagrams while effectively

managing and servicing groups of varying size for the successful execution of all details, enhancement of guest experience and maximum impact on overall revenue.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: includes but not limited to:

Responsible for planning, up-selling and detailing of events from pre to post convention.Coordinating customer expectations, goals & objectives which include food & beverage, sleeping accommodations, transportation, audio visual, banquet room sets, entertainment, décor, billing, recreation and any special needs a group may require and communicating these requirements with all related departments.Reviews and communicates details of contracts, prepares Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and Group Specification Guidelines (group resumes)Manages space requirements, guestroom blocks, scheduling, ordering of equipment and billing instructionsAttends all scheduled departmental and event related meetingsProvides customers with creative suggestions for innovative room sets, menus and event productionInitiates and follows up on assigned leadsMaintains complete knowledge of and compliance with all departmental policies, service procedures and standardsMaintains positive guest relations at all timesResolves guest complaints and ensures guest satisfactionMonitors accuracy of physical sets within meeting space according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and diagrams, including room temperature, cleanliness and maintenance of convention spaceRemains visible and available providing direction to guests as a first resource within the convention and expo centerHandles daily changes and additional requests of on-site guestsLocates, receives and delivers packages to groups and exhibitors within the groupLogs and maintains all transactions of package handlingMonitors operations of all departments assisting guests while on property to ensure a smoothly run programWorks cohesively with co-workers as part of a teamMaintains confidentiality of guest information and pertinent departmental dataAdvocate of the company’s Mission, Vision and Core Values on a consistent basis

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities:

Plans and coordinates with outside vendors to ensure successful programming for the groupAssists with compliance of all Fire Marshall regulations

Minimum Education and Qualifications:

Bachelors’ Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration or a related field preferredThree years of experience in convention services or catering sales for a hotel with no less than 500 roomsMust have experience developing and maintaining business contracts, including the ability to evaluate, decipher contract details and support and maintain the integrity of the contactsIn lieu of a Degree and previously mentioned experience 5 years in convention services or catering sales for a hotel with no less than 500 rooms

Training Requirements:

Knowledge of Mohegan Sun corporate and department policies and proceduresMust complete the Core Manager Training coursePursuit of learning and self-development opportunities to enhance personal and professional growthAdvanced knowledge of Delphi, Meeting Matrix, LMS and Passkey systemsSafety and Fire TrainingSMART alcohol awareness

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

Travel may be requiredMust be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of timeMust be able to work various shifts and flexible hours
