Reporting to the AGM, the HPDC Process and Business Unit Manager is responsible for the management and performance of all High Pressure Die Casting plant and directly associated processes, teams and production requirements across 3 shifts.
Role Responsibilities
Strategically plan, manage and oversee production and process engineering departments to meet customer and business demands through appropriate scheduling of jobs (develop daily/weekly/monthly production plans), throughout prototype, pre-production, SOP and productionPromote quality, lean management and WCM Principles throughout the departmentEnsure that manpower is scheduled to cover all production requirements across 3 shiftsEnsure that all production materials and consumables are sourced where neededEnsures close control of furnace and metal managementBuild an effective and empowered team that possess the skills and motivation to generate quality output whilst meeting departmental and divisional goalsWork closely with the Planning and Logistics Manager to ensure plans and agreed corrective actions are met to protect customer supplyEffectively build customer relationshipsDevelop, collate and report HPDC performance KPI’s to all levels of the businessDevelop the team through coaching and mentoring and provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards, regular reviews and monitoring of competence and performanceInvolvement in machine selection and maintenanceBudgetary control of the departmentWork with other departments to ensure that production is cost effective Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures and Policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programsUnderstand, promote and practice Magna’s philosophies and Employee CharterPromote the companies HSE policies across the department and plantDrive a 5S culture and structure within Business UnitCoordinate and direct process improvement projects making detailed plans to accomplish goals. Present and explain proposals, reports and findings to internal customers and suppliers.Participates in KLT meetings, Operational Management meetings, Town Halls and any other business-related meetings.Performs other duties as required.
