T his is a part-time position with a maximum of 1,508 hours per year and is not eligible for paid holidays, leave, or benefits.
Job Description
The Part-time Building Brains Anywhere Educational Leader will be responsible for preparing, facilitating, and delivering educational enrichment opportunities such as field trips, summer camps, and other public programs for program participants and the general public, presenting in both indoor and outdoor locations. This role will be working and interacting with children, caregivers, staff, and the public in a professional and positive manner. The educator must be willing to work in a multitude of settings while ensuring a safe and engaging learning experience for all participants. This position will be primarily based at the Environmental & Heritage Center, but also working at historic sites and other locations across Gwinnett County.
Essential Duties
+ Orienting, monitoring, and leading children in literacy, science, social studies and STEAM enrichment activities
+ Demonstrating a command of the subjects being taught
+ Sustaining positive audience engagement (youth, adults, and seniors)
+ Presenting specifically designed curriculum aligned with academic standards for K-12 level education
+ Ensuring smooth transitions and the safety of participants from one activity to another
+ Communicating all issues and concerns with supervisor
+ Participating in professional growth and learning opportunities
+ Exhibiting a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and the interpersonal skills to collaborate and engage well with a broad spectrum of ages, cultures, and languages, including interactions with the general public
Public Speaking Duties
+ Leading educational programs for up to 30 people of various age groups (youth, adults, and seniors)
+ Attending outreach events to promote upcoming programs and educating the public about the mission of Building Brains Anywhere
+ Delivering ad hoc tours and answering questions from the general public

+ This job requires fingerprinting.
+ This job may require on-call rotation and emergency after hours, weekends, and/or holidays.
Hourly rate
$16.80 per hour
Minimum Qualifications
+ Associate's degree in science, history, environmental science, education, childcare, or closely related field AND
+ One year of experience working in a professional elementary/middle/high school or college level educational setting, summer camp program, museum, or historic site
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
+ Valid Driver's license
+ Ability to pass a 50-pound lift test
+ Ability to work some evenings and weekends
+ CPR and First Aid certification (must be completed within first 45 days of employment)
Preferred Qualifications in addition to the above minimum qualifications
+ Bachelor's degree in science, history, environmental science, education, childcare, or closely related field AND
+ Two years of experience working in a professional elementary/middle/high school or college level educational setting, summer camp program, museum, or historic site
+ An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above will also be considered.
