Car Rental Manager - UIC Arctic Operations & Development

**Overview**
UIC Car Rental is seeking a Car Rental Manager to oversee daily rental operations, including managing reservations, processing vehicle returns, and ensuring a positive customer experience. This position is responsible for coordinating rental logistics, maintaining service standards, and greeting and assisting customers in a professional and friendly manner.
**Responsibilities**
Essential functions will include:
+ Oversee the daily operations of UIC Car Rental, including supervision of staff, scheduling, and ensuring adequate coverage.
+ Manage customer service activities such as vehicle check-ins and check-outs, addressing inquiries, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
+ Maintain and operate rental systems, including credit card machines and reservation platforms.
+ Ensure all vehicles receive regular maintenance (daily, weekly, and monthly), including inspections and coordination of repairs with auto shops.
+ Secure the rental vehicle fleet and monitor vehicle condition and availability.
+ Accurately report daily sales to Accounting with appropriate backup documentation.
+ Ensure all car rental documentation (e.g., direct billing, credit card forms, tax exemption paperwork) is properly completed, filed, and submitted.
+ Attend planning meetings with the UHL General Manager and collaborate on operational needs.
+ Monitor department budget and assist with preparation of quarterly tax filings as directed.
+ Assist in establishing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, goals, and objectives in coordination with the UHI Manager.
+ Support the planning and execution of sales promotions and marketing activities.
+ Respond to 24-hour emergency callouts for car rental customers.
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
Minimum Qualifications:

Physical and Mental Demands:
+ Regularly performs a combination of sitting, standing, walking, reaching, and handling tools or equipment.
+ Frequently required to talk, hear, climb, stoop, kneel, and grasp objects.
+ Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.
+ Involves occasional strenuous physical activity.
+ May operate vehicles or equipment, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods and access all controls safely.
+ Must have sufficient vision to monitor instruments, gauges, and surroundings through mirrors or windows.
+ May be exposed to constant vibration and jarring movements when operating on uneven surfaces.
Working Conditions:
+ Work is performed in various weather conditions, including extreme cold and heat.
+ Duties may occur at different elevations and on uneven or slippery surfaces.
+ Job sites may contain light to heavy equipment, materials, communication systems, and construction tools.
+ Work environment may include exposure to loud noises, bells, alarms, and other audible signals.
+ Regular presence of individuals standing, walking, sitting, signaling, and talking.
+ May be exposed to construction-related hazards such as moving equipment, open excavations, temporary structures, and confined spaces.
+ Constant awareness of surroundings is required to ensure personal and team safety.
+ Work environment is subject to frequent changes and potential safety risks.

Where driving may be required or where a rental car must be obtained for business travel purposes, applicants must have a valid driver license for this position and will be subject to verification. In addition, the applicant must pass an in-house, online, driving course to be authorized to drive for company purposes.
