Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems sector is seeking a Capture Manager 3 in Redondo Beach, CA to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in our Intelligence Systems Division.
Overview
Reporting to the Director of Programs the Capture Manager will lead end‑to‑end capture efforts for Ruby Next within the Intelligence & Sensing Business Unit (I&S BU) and Rapid & Innovative Systems Environment Operating Unit (RISE OU), including new, follow on, and task‑order opportunities. They will develop and execute capture strategies, build and coach cross‑functional capture teams, and drive proposals that align with Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector priorities. The role will work closely with Business Development, Strategy, Technology, Operations, and senior leadership to secure profitable contracts.
Role & Responsibilities
Define market segmentation, portfolio positioning, and win‑themes
Create and manage capture plans, staffing, and budgets
Conduct competitive, make‑buy, and price‑to‑win analyses
Form and lead capture teams across functional and geographic boundaries
Facilitate capture‑team meetings, coach team members, and document lessons learned
Coordinate proposal activities with Proposal Managers/Specialists and Portfolio Leads
Maintain the capture pipeline in Salesforce; perform pipeline analytics
Serve as the first point of contact for potential customers
Lead opportunity/award plan reviews with BU leadership
Oversee development of annotated outlines, win‑themes, and discriminators
Work with Estimating/Pricing to set Basis of Estimate (BOE) detail levels
Ensure on time delivery of proposals > $1 M and compliance with RFP specifications
Organize conference attendance, marketing webpages, and related BD activities
Advise senior management on capture risks and mitigation strategies
Partner with Business Development, Technology, Digital Engineering, and Operations to qualify opportunities and build business cases
Prioritize opportunities against long‑range strategic and annual operating plans
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree with 10 years’ relevant experience; OR a Master’s degree with 8 years’ relevant experience; OR a PhD with 6 years’ relevant experience
Demonstrated experience with U.S. government contracts and the acquisition processes
Proven success leading proposals greater than $1 M in value
Strong analytical skills; ability to handle large data sets across multiple programs
Strong teamwork and communication skills to ensure changes to plans are fully understood
Ability to organize, balance and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously in a highly dynamic aerospace manufacturing environment
Advanced MS Office skills, Excel
Ability to travel as needed
Active DoD Top Secret clearance required at the time of application with the ability to obtain SCI access
US Citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Capture efforts
Excellent critical‑thinking, writing, editing, and visual‑storytelling skills
BOE development experience
Familiarity with Northrop Grumman Space Sector strategies, customers, and priorities
Proficiency with NG tools: Salesforce, SharePoint, Tableau, Workday, etc.
Experience driving organizational effectiveness and best‑practice operations
Advanced data‑analytics training and practical experience
Active SCI access
Primary Level Salary Range: $193,000.00 - $289,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
