We are looking for a Capital Project Digital Transformation Lead who is innovative, collaborative, and solution-oriented to join our Patient Supply, Transformational Programs & Infrastructure team, based at our UCB campus located in Braine-l'Alleud, Wallonia, Belgium.

About the role

You will lead the execution of UCB’s digital strategy for a large-scale greenfield capital project, embedding AI-first and lights-out factory concepts from the earliest design stages. This role ensures our future site is automation-enabled, compliance-ready, and built for high-performance, digitally empowered operations, including Device Assembly & Packaging (DAP) processes.


Who you will work with

You will work closely with automation, engineering, IT, and quality teams, acting as the digital transformation representative across business, technical, and compliance stakeholders. You’ll collaborate with internal and external partners to drive execution, remove roadblocks, and deliver state-of-the-art digital solutions, including those supporting device assembly and packaging lines.

 What you will doLead the digital workstream within the capital project, ensuring alignment with broader program timelines and strategic objectivesTranslate AI-first and smart factory principles into design and operational requirements for digital manufacturingCollaborate across disciplines (automation, engineering, quality, IT) to embed digital capabilities into the facility infrastructure and workflowsIdentify and integrate advanced digital solutions, such as robotics, digital twins, vision systems, MES, SCADA, and predictive analytics to boost performance and efficiencyDefine and implement digital strategies specific to Device Assembly & Packaging operations, ensuring traceability, efficiency, and complianceSupport GMP-compliant validation, qualification, and readiness activities, ensuring smooth transition to commercial operationsAct as the main digital point of contact for the capital program, facilitating communication, issue resolution, and decision-makingDrive augmented operator capabilities, improved workflows, and digital adoption to future-proof operations Interested? For this role, we are looking for the following education, experience, and skills:You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (advanced degrees are a plus)You bring 5–7 years of experience in digital transformation or smart manufacturing, including 2–3 years in program or project managementYou’ve worked on greenfield or capital projects, in biopharma or other GMP-regulated environmentsYou’re familiar with end-to-end supply chain processes and have a strong grasp of Industry 4.0 principlesYou have hands-on knowledge of automation, robotics, vision systems, MES, SCADA, and data platformsYou have experience supporting or digitizing Device Assembly & Packaging processesYou’re experienced in ensuring compliance with GMP and regulatory frameworksYou’re a strong project leader, skilled at driving timelines, managing risks, and influencing across technical and non-technical stakeholdersYou communicate clearly, engage easily across functions, and drive alignmentYou’re analytical, solutions-driven, and quick to adapt in dynamic environmentsYou take ownership, act with purpose, and push forward in high-stakes, ambiguous contextsYou’re collaborative by nature but not afraid to challenge the status quo and bring fresh perspectives
