Job Description

Calibration Specialist is responsible for the calibration, qualification, preventative maintenance, Data Integrity and instruments’ corresponding software activities for Eurofins BPT Toronto. Calibration Specialist’s primary responsibility is to ensure that laboratory instrumentation and computer software are GMP compliant and remain in good repair/maintenance.

Principal Accountabilities:

conduct calibration on the required equipment, in both Chemistry and Microbiology labs, and setting timelines and work scheduleTrouble shoot any equipment prior to coordinating its repair with the external vendorsPerform data integrity analysis of software for the existing and new laboratory equipmentWork closely with Metrology Manager and the QA Director or Designate on creating, updating and reviewing site QA controlled documents related to calibration/qualification/maintenance activitiesLeading and initiating the Change Management process for any new equipment and lead the commissioning process.Establish and maintain professional business relationships with clients and peers. Prepare, write and execute qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) protocols for instrumentationMaintain the VMP and equipment lists by performing the annual review for the VMPPlay an active role in internal and external audits and prepare audit responsesTrain employees on laboratory equipment and techniques and prepare training recordsConduct temperature/humidity excursion investigations and prepare deviation reportsRespond to the monitoring system alarms events. This might include the need to drive into the building during off-shift hours to respond and react to any system monitoring alarms.Follow safety procedures within the labs and follow company policiesTroubleshoot and respond quickly when problems ariseAny other duties as requested by the Metrology Manager and the QA Director

QualificationsBachelor's Degree in Science/Engineering2+ year experience being a Calibration Specialist3+ experience working in a GMP environmentSolid experience in pharmaceutical testing operationsStrong knowledge with cGMP testing & ICH guidelines and release procedures.

Must speak and write English fluentlyMust possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in order to maintain communication with internal and external clientsExcellent organizational & inter-personal skillsAbility to work independently, while supporting a collaborative, team-based departmentMust be proactive, self-disciplined, and able to demonstrate a high level of productivity with a goal-oriented approachAbility to effectively work under pressure.

Technical Skills:

Exceptional technical skill related to laboratory instrumentationAbility to adapt to new technologies and software.

Working Conditions:

Primarily in an office and laboratory environment. Periodic weekend or evening work could occur but would not be a consistent expectation.

The initial training for this role will take place in Toronto (1111 Flint Road) and is expected to last approximately two months.
