Job Title: Civil CAD Technician

Job Description

The CAD Designer will work closely with Civil Project Engineers and Project Managers to support the production of construction drawings for municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. This is a hands-on production drafting role focused on generating high-quality plan sets and design documents using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.

Responsibilities

Produce 2D and 3D civil construction drawings.Draft plan sheets, profiles, and details in AutoCAD and Civil 3D.Prepare report figures and design exhibits.Assist with quantity take-offs.Support engineers with design activities and project coordination.Conduct occasional fieldwork or site verification as needed.Contribute to a positive, collaborative drafting environment.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D in a professional setting.Experience preparing civil plan sets for utilities, roadway, or site development projects.Ability to draft and design civil construction plans.Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.Strong attention to detail and accuracy in plan production.Positive attitude, ability to learn quickly, professionalism, and strong communication.Strong work ethic and reliability in meeting deadlines.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Prior experience with water and wastewater infrastructure.Experience with municipal clients or public-sector design.Exposure to 3D modeling tools or workflows.Associate’s Degree in Drafting & Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field.

Work Environment

The position is within a civil engineering consulting firm specializing in municipal water and wastewater systems. Work schedules are flexible, with options for either M–Th 7:00–5:00, Fri 7:00–11:00, or M–F 8:00–5:00. The typical workweek consists of 40–45 hours. The role is office-based with direct access to engineers and project teams, incorporating occasional field tasks. The environment is team-oriented with a collaborative and supportive engineering culture.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $38.50/hr.
