Job Description
The Buyer I will assist the Buying Team in expanding selection by setting up new vendors and items, maintaining the product catalog, and managing pricing. This role involves new product launch coordination, maintaining product cost, retail price, content and images, vendor relations, and assisting with special projects. The position also includes supporting and training as a backup to the Control Buyer.
ResponsibilitiesDevelop and manage relationships with key suppliers and business partners to enable and support project execution.Review supplier designs and proposals to ensure that scope, pricing, and schedules support business needs.Support consistent work package sourcing processes in line with sourcing policies.Facilitate suppliers’ understanding of global policies, equipment design standards, budget and cost targets, and service and quality expectations.Drive suppliers’ continuous improvement and value engineering in support of program’s performance metrics: quality, delivery, capacity, cost, and safety.Monitor suppliers’ supply chain, manufacturing, human capital with respect to overall program objectives.Administer change management program ensuring delivery per commercial agreement focusing on cost, quality, and schedule objectives.Develop alternate sourcing strategies to optimize costs and ensure continuity of supply.Essential SkillsStrong skills in sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as pivot tables and vlookups.Data analysis skills for evaluating data sets and deriving insights.Experience in materials readiness and buying.3-5 years of buyer experience, preferably in the electrical or compressor industry.Bachelor's degree in management or a related field.Additional Skills & QualificationsWorked on large or mid-size projects.Experience with general contractor construction, including troubleshooting industry-specific issues.2-4 years of experience in advanced Excel and data analysis.Good negotiation skills and some program management experience.Work Environment
The team is part of the Supply Chain, supporting automation for delivery stations. The environment is fast-paced, ambiguous, and collaborative, with a team of 10-12 people working on multiple projects. The work involves managing electrical contractors, vetting code, reviewing code, negotiating as needed, and some program management. The team culture prioritizes customers and upholds the highest standards while aiming to reduce costs.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $26.00 - $27.00/hr.
