The Buyer I develops merchandise assortments and strategies to drive profitable sales and productivity, ensuring product value, quality, and styling. They work closely with their manager to manage assortment planning, selection, maintenance, and promotion for designated product categories Responsibilities: + Quickly adjust to changing market trends and conditions; analyze and react to business trends weekly + Develop new product concepts/brands for test markets + Coordinate with marketing, visual display, and advertising departments + Present and justify catalog/promotional items to merchandise directors and vice presidents + Build buy plans for upcoming seasons + Manage open-to-buy for assigned product categories + Plan and manage merchandising assortments for e-commerce/websites + Participate in lifecycle management from idea inception through clearance + Manage negotiations for the return of discontinued products to suppliers + Assist in annual business reviews for all designated product categories + Work with Signet’s accounting department to ensure credits/aging are applied correctly + Develop strong vendor partnerships and negotiate annual purchasing agreements + Address vendor performance issues, including late orders and quality control + Proof all advertising materials for accuracy + Collaborate with the VM team for in-store presentations + Work cross-functionally with store operations, VM, DC, and planning teams on store tests, rollouts, and RTVs + Assist with the Senior Merchant’s other categories What We Are Looking For: + Preferred: Degree in Fashion Merchandising or a related field + Minimum 2 years of prior buying experience + Preferred: previous experience with diamonds + Willingness to travel occasionally (up to 10%) + Proficient in Microsoft Office and general computer skills + Excellent communication (written and verbal), negotiation, organizational, and math skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy + Able to work in a metal-free environment when required by security protocols + Comfortable in a fast-paced setting + Capable of working independently and collaboratively + Demonstrated leadership abilities Work Environment: + Hybrid work schedule to Dallas, TX. + Position available within multiple brands.
