Job Title: Purchasing ProfessionalJob Description We are seeking a dedicated purchasing professional to join our team at our Elgin site. In this role, you will manage the end-to-end ordering process, ensuring supply continuity and on-time delivery of assigned commodities. As a key member of the Procurement Organization, you will be responsible for order placement and planning, collaborating across departments to resolve quality, accounts payable, inventory, and freight issues. Responsibilities + Manage material requirements planning (MRP) for purchased materials. + Create and follow up on purchase order acknowledgements. + Schedule purchased materials for optimal delivery performance, cost, quality, and inventory levels. + Coordinate solutions to quality-related issues. + Implement sourcing strategies from the Commodity Management team. + Execute demand and engineering changes in a timely manner. + Maintain accurate and current information in the ERP system. + Build and maintain strong supplier relationships. + Resolve accounts payable discrepancies. + Share and apply procurement best practices. + Collaborate closely with internal and external cross-functional teams, including suppliers, strategic purchasing, production planning, warehouse, and quality. Essential Skills + Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or a related field. + 2+ years of progressive purchasing experience for direct materials in a manufacturing environment. + 2+ years of ASCM/APICS MRP & inventory management experience. + Proficiency in SAP, particularly the MM module. + Strong independent work ethic, negotiation skills, and communication abilities. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. + Customer-focused mindset. + Excellent organizational and analytical skills. + Effective team player. + Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing priorities. + Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with ERP systems. + Inventory management skills. + Microsoft Excel proficiency. + Buying experience. + Data entry skills. Work Environment This is a hands-on, on-site manufacturing setting with close ties to Logistics, Sales (for drop-ship), and the shop floor. The work environment is culturally collaborative and long-tenured, with leadership encouraging questioning the norm, structured problem solving, and continuous improvement. The work schedule is 100% on-site, Monday through Friday, approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility to 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. This position offers the opportunity to modernize a legacy-strong manufacturing site and to quickly implement ideas, with high performers having the potential to progress to Commodity Management. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Elgin, IL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $30.00/hr.
