Job Description

This position involves purchasing within the Service Parts division for a well-known automotive company. The role focuses on post-production activities, negotiating services, and managing programs. It offers multiple openings in either Indirect or Direct Service. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be adept at multitasking.

Responsibilities

Manage purchasing deck within Service Parts for the Customer Service Division.Negotiate services and handle program management.Engage in heavy project-based work and market testing to find the best value.Work with new and existing suppliers.Procure goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments.Communicate any supply problems that may impact business operations.Act as an interface between suppliers and other departments on purchasing processes and new projects.Monitor and advise on issues presenting risk or opportunity to the organization.Monitor market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.Provide analysis on costs and review cost reduction activities.Work closely with others in the procurement function to review opportunities for continuous improvement.Negotiate contracts, improve prices, and review opportunities for business savings.Build, maintain, and manage supplier relationships.Conduct research for new components and suppliers.Compile data relating to supplier performance for evaluation.Resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues with suppliers.Resolve supplier shortages and past-due situations.Update and maintain commodity strategies.Work with cost estimating for savings negotiations.Produce weekly reports, charts, and project status updates.Perform Market Tests and analyze responses for sourcing parts.Review open vehicles off road (VOR) and backorders weekly to expedite parts delivery.

Essential Skills

Minimum of 5 years of recent experience in purchasing, buying commodities within the automotive industry.Background in program management.Examples of packaging negotiations and experience identifying/driving cost savings.Experience with SAP.Strong communication skills.Completed Bachelor's degree.Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Allen Park, MI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $50.00/hr.
