Job Description
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Buyer to manage a purchasing deck within Service Parts, specifically focusing on the Engine (EV/ICE) commodity. This position involves supplier negotiations, project management, and purchasing to achieve cost reductions and best prices.
Responsibilities
+ Negotiate with suppliers to obtain the best prices and cost reductions.
+ Manage projects heavily focused on market testing to find value.
+ Work with both new and existing suppliers in a fast-paced environment.
+ Purchase goods, materials, components, or services in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets.
+ Support the purchasing function and other departments by communicating supply problems.
+ Act as an interface between suppliers and departments for purchasing processes and new projects.
+ Monitor and advise on issues presenting risk or opportunity.
+ Analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and supplier performance.
+ Provide cost analysis on new and existing items and review cost reduction activities.
+ Negotiate contracts and improve prices and terms with suppliers.
+ Build and maintain supplier relationships and communication.
+ Research new components and suppliers.
+ Resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues with suppliers.
+ Address supplier shortages and past-due situations.
+ Update and maintain commodity strategies.
+ Work with cost estimating to develop cost estimates for savings negotiations.
+ Produce weekly reports and status updates on projects.
+ Conduct market tests and analyze responses for sourcing parts.
+ Review open vehicles off road (VOR) and backorders weekly to expedite parts delivery.
Essential Skills
+ 2-5 years of recent purchasing and buying commodities experience in the automotive industry.
+ 2-5 years of program management and analytical background.
+ Proven negotiation skills with experience identifying and driving cost savings.
+ Experience with SAP.
+ Intermediate Excel knowledge (80% proficiency or higher).
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Completed Bachelor's degree in a business-related field.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Strong negotiation skills.
+ Familiarity with Ford systems/SAP.
+ Highly motivated and proactive.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Dearborn, MI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $43.00/hr.
