Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Buyer responsible for maintaining appropriate inventory levels and ensuring timely order placement and transfers. The role involves expediting product delivery, responding to volume changes, and analyzing market demand trends using seasonality and historical data. The Buyer will purchase products based on forecasted needs, considering total costs including freight, and will communicate promptly and professionally with internal departments and external vendors to achieve company targets for inventory turnover and fill rate.
Responsibilities
Maintain appropriate inventory levels through timely order placement and transfers.Expedite product delivery and respond proactively to volume changes.Analyze market demand trends using seasonality and historical data.Purchase products based on forecasted needs, factoring in total cost including freight.Provide prompt, professional communication with internal departments and external vendors.Achieve company targets for inventory turnover and fill rate.Follow vendor procedures accurately when placing purchase orders.Process vendor returns efficiently.Complete special projects assigned by management.Collaborate closely with vendors to ensure performance and results.Understand warehouse operations and inventory control policies.Support and communicate effectively with the Sales team.Perform other duties as assigned by management.Essential Skills
Purchasing experience of 2-3 years with forward purchasing and distribution center buying, preferably in the food industry.Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Experience with ERP systems, particularly AS400 based software.Strong skills in purchasing, procurement, forward buying, and purchase order management.Understanding of inventory management and control policies.Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience in Distribution Center Purchasing.Ability to analyze market demand trends using historical data.Work Environment
The position is based on-site with working hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. This is a full-time role with an opportunity to transition to a permanent position. The work environment does not offer remote work options.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hanover, MD.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $24.04 - $26.44/hr.
