Business Intelligence Engineer II, Network Design Planning & Engineering (NDPE)
Description As a Business Intelligence Engineer II within the Network Design Planning & Engineering (NDPE) analytics team, you'll build analytical solutions that optimize Amazon's transportation network. You'll work on both near-term and long-term initiatives to enable capacity growth, cost reduction, faster delivery speeds, improved quality, and greater sustainability. Key job responsibilities - Design and develop sophisticated data models that recommend network design improvements aligned with NDPE goals - Create dynamic, interactive data visualizations and mapping solutions to effectively communicate complex transportation metrics - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and implement scalable BI solutions - Drive consensus on data sources and methodologies for metric calculations - Develop automated tools to streamline manual processes and improve data integrity - Quantify process improvements and help identify root causes of defects - Document and present BI solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders - Prioritize features and dashboards based on business impact and urgency A day in the life Your day typically involves collaborating with data engineers, program managers, data scientists, and business stakeholders across multiple organizations. You'll analyze data patterns, create visualizations, and participate in requirements gathering sessions. You might spend time refining business requirements into functional designs, building new dashboard features, or presenting insights to leadership. You'll regularly engage with teams like ATS LH, SCOT, APEX, TESS, NASC, NACF, AMZL, MOP, and GTS Finance to ensure solutions meet their needs while maintaining operational excellence. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field - 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience - Experience writing complex SQL queries - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines - Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab - Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling - Knowledge of advanced skills in Excel as well as any data visualization tools like Tableau or similar BI tools (familiarity with Tableau preferred) Preferred Qualifications - Master's degree in BI, finance, engineering, statistics, computer science, mathematics, finance or equivalent quantitative field - Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets - Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
