Business Intelligence Engineer, Home Innovation Team
Description We are hiring a Business Intelligence Engineer to identify strategic initiatives that will form the next generation of Product Experience and Customization Platform within the Home Innovation Org. As a Business Intelligence Engineer you will be working in one of the world’s largest and most complex data warehouse environments. In this role, you will primarily work on designing and building automated reporting and dashboards using complex data. It is an exciting opportunity to be involved from design-to-execution. As a BI Engineer, you will operate as a mix of hands-on builder and influencer. The team’s success depends on our ability to create actionable insight from the data that we and our partners generate. The ideal BIE candidate will have excellent analytical abilities, business acumen, high judgment, strong technical skills, and good written and verbal communication skills. This person will be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, able to think big and be creative (while paying careful attention to detail), and enjoys working in a fast-paced dynamic environment. To be successful in this role, you should be comfortable dealing with large and complex data sets, while applying analytical rigor to solve business problems. Key job responsibilities This role is cross-functional, involving close collaboration with partners in Product Management, Data Science, and Program Management to design and meet data requirements. You should be comfortable working in a dynamic, start-up environment, and seek data-driven decision-making. You should have strong analytical and communication skills and be able to work with product managers and business development teams to define key business questions and build data sets and models that answer them. Analyze and solve intricate business challenges, focusing on root cause identification and forward-looking opportunities. Design and implement efficient, testable, and maintainable BI solutions resilient to data quality issues. Leverage Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL, and other technologies to analyze and interpret large-scale datasets. Develop and optimize data models and ETL pipelines to support business growth. Create complex, optimized queries and data pipelines to transform raw data into meaningful reports and dashboards. Collaborate closely with business and operations teams to gather requirements and present insights. Enable data-driven decision making by aggregating information from multiple sources into actionable formats. Innovate new metrics and enhance existing ones to support evolving business processes and ensure long-term sustainability. Effectively communicate complex analyses and insights to stakeholders and business leaders, both verbally and in writing. Basic Qualifications - 5+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience - Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools - Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines - Strong SQL skills for complex data extraction and Python scripting for data processing and modeling. Preferred Qualifications - Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab - Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets - Strong stakeholder management skills and experience in cross-functional collaboration. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
