Business Clerk

The Colposcopy Clinic at the Henderson Site is a regional service to women with referrals coming from family physicians and gynecologists in the community. The clinic provides expert diagnosis, treatment and case coordination of vulvar and cervical disease processes and urogynecologic and pelvic floor dysfunction.

As a member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Business Clerk provides clerical, administrative and business support to patients, families, nurses, colposcopists and clinicians. The Business Clerk processes faxes and telephone referrals, schedules and changes appointments; registers patients; schedules physician clinics; prepares the clinic's charts; files, sorts and manages clinic health records; monitors the inventory of supplies and places orders via Meditech Order Entry module; takes minutes at staff and business meetings and relays and processes information using a range of communication technologies.

1. Required: at least 1 year experience in accurately using the following Meditech Modules: Patient Registration, Community Wide Scheduling, Order Entry, Materials Management, Billing, Purchasing
2. Commercial/Business/Secretarial College Diploma/Certificate or equivalent office experience
3. Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated knowledge equivalent to the Medical Terminology Certificate 1 and 2 acquired in a different Business Clerk position, which may be subject to testing
4. Keyboarding 40 wpm
5. Required: demonstrated proficiency in using MS Office software: MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, Outlook and MS Word
6. Mathematical skills related to payroll, budget and statistical documents
7. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, public relations and problem-solving skills
8. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly
9. Ability to liaise with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
10. Ability to appreciate the confidential nature of the position
11. Ability to sit for long periods, repetitive reaching, repetitive bending
12. Experience working in a surgical out-patient clinic would be an asset
13. Knowledge, skill and experience in office procedures and equipment use
