Job Description: Business Analyst II (Level 5)
Global Finance Solutions (GFS) is seeking a Business Analyst II (Level 5) to support the development and implementation of Business Intelligence and analytics across Finance functions. GFS is a global finance organization responsible for managing accounting, reporting, and analytical services for Amazon’s worldwide finance teams.
The GFS Planning, Processes, and Tools (PPT) organization builds and scales financial planning systems and processes and is a key contributor to planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities. The team leverages data analytics and visualization to drive standardization and automation, and develops scalable, plug-and-play solutions for Supply Chain and Operations teams within the JP SSD Line of Business.
As a Business Analyst II, you will be responsible for deriving deep, actionable insights across multiple business functions and driving continuous improvement through data. You will demonstrate a strong understanding of business requirements, the ability to quickly identify root causes of complex business problems, and the capability to design data-driven solutions. You will work closely with program managers, BI engineers, and business stakeholders to analyze large datasets, define performance metrics, identify automation opportunities, and continuously enhance existing processes.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with Planning Analysts, BI Engineers, and business stakeholders to design, develop, and influence operational best practices for reporting and analytics
Apply an analytical and consulting mindset to assess existing processes and programs, and develop strategies to improve business performance and mitigate risk
Ideate, design, and develop analytical solutions to identify trends and outliers, perform scenario analysis, build forecasts, and generate insights using predictive analytics
Perform end-to-end data activities including data discovery, cleansing, engineering, analysis, and visualization across multiple technology stacks to drive operational and business outcomes
Enable effective decision-making by retrieving, aggregating, and synthesizing data from multiple sources into clear, actionable insights
Participate in business requirements discussions and translate functional requirements into detailed system and technical design documentation
Effectively communicate project status, risks, issues, and escalations to leadership and business stakeholders
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Data Analyst, or in a similar analytical role
5+ years of experience with Excel (including VBA, pivot tables, array functions, Power Pivot, etc.) and data visualization tools such as Tableau
Experience defining business requirements and leveraging data and metrics to generate meaningful business insights
Experience making data-driven business recommendations and influencing stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in requirements gathering and the ability to create clear, detailed, and well-structured requirement documentation
Proven experience analyzing large datasets and translating findings into actionable business insights
Strong presentation and whiteboarding skills, with a high level of comfort communicating with internal and external executives, IT leadership, and technical teams
Ability to work proactively and independently, manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and consistently deliver on projects and tasks
Experience working in a fast-paced, high-tech environment, or demonstrated ability to execute complex tasks quickly with minimal guidance and respond with appropriate urgency
Experience communicating analytical results to senior leadership and/or applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to business analyses
Experience driving IT or cross-functional projects to completion with minimal supervision
