Amazon’s Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) organization is expanding rapidly, and the Worldwide Ergonomics and Safety Experience (WESE) team is at the forefront of this growth. WESE’s mission is to create a safety experience that is responsive to employee needs and actionable for leaders.
Within WESE, the Data and Program Analysis team plays a critical role by providing the analytical rigor, technical guidance, and operational insight needed to support programs from ideation through execution.
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented candidate to join this team. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with data, has foundational SQL experience, and can translate complex concepts into clear, concise insights for stakeholders. You should be eager to learn, able to navigate ambiguity, and ready to grow in a fast-paced environment where safety, innovation, and customer obsession drive everything we do.
Key job responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
• Provide analytics solutions to solve business problems
• Extract available data and apply basic transformations using spreadsheets, SQL, and other relevant tools
• Use descriptive analysis techniques to understand impact and identify drivers
• Generate findings that inform team decisions by providing visibility to business performance, highlighting anomalies, and revealing new opportunities
• Document your analytical approach, including metric definitions, applied logic, assumptions, and data sources
• Work with technology teams to contribute towards development/ improvement of portals, dashboards and online tools including logic validation.
• Share findings with your team through written and verbal communication channels
• Learn and apply analytical best practices to improve team and process efficiency
• Help train new peers and contribute to the development of your team
About the team
The Workplace Environment, Safety & Environmental Assurance (WESE) organization manages 20+ critical initiatives spanning safety technology deployments, global compliance programs, training systems, and data-driven decision support. These initiatives directly support WHS Leadership Team (LT), Operations Leadership Team (OLT), and S-Team level goals with measurable impact on injury reduction, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience
- Experience defining requirements and using data and metrics to draw business insights
- Experience with SQL or ETL
- Knowledge of data visualization tools such as Quick Sight, Tableau, Power BI or other BI packages
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Machine Learning, Science, Statistics, or Symbolic Systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using very large datasets
