Job Description

The Building Engineer is responsible for operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing complex electromechanical equipment associated with building infrastructures. This includes HVAC, electrical, plumbing, Energy Management (EMS), Life Safety, and structural elements of various types of buildings. The Building Engineer will handle work orders and repairs across all properties in the company's portfolio, maintain properties and equipment in a clean and orderly fashion, perform necessary repairs, and assist in tenant service requests as needed. Customer service requirements are also included.

ResponsibilitiesPerform detailed, scheduled maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, steam systems, and specialty items.Conduct preventive maintenance work and record equipment performance data.Repair, troubleshoot, and assist with the installation of mechanical systems including HVAC systems and related equipment.Ensure completion of maintenance and repair jobs according to established standards.Patrol, inspect, log, and maintain mechanical, HVAC, electrical, piping, and plumbing systems and equipment.Assist with fire/life/safety and security programs.Perform special projects as assigned.Handle sensitive and confidential information, work independently and within a team.Coordinate, plan, and schedule maintenance and operation of building systems and equipment.Troubleshoot and repair building systems in a timely manner, maintaining appropriate records.Communicate and foster teamwork to ensure agreements are managed successfully, opportunities are maximized, and customer expectations are exceeded.Essential SkillsDependability, responsibility, honesty, and a strong work ethic.Ability to learn quickly and follow directions.Communication skills using a hand-held radio.Good interpersonal skills.Ability to read and interpret system plans and schematics.Strong troubleshooting skills for system and equipment maintenance.Composure and professionalism under stress.Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.Proactive communication for tenant and team confidence.Thorough knowledge of company and department policies.Understanding of customer service and tenant relations principles and practices.Logical analysis and problem-solving skills.Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Availability for 24/7 call, carrying a company-issued cell phone or communication device.Ability to analyze and implement changes effectively and legally.Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and maintenance programs.Ability to respond to supervisor requests safely, efficiently, and timely.Professional sensitivity and tact in dealing with people.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, preventive maintenance, repair, carpentry, mechanical work, and painting.Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55000.00 - $75000.00/yr.
