Building Automation Tech Specialist
**Job Title: Building Automation Tech Specialist** **Job Description** The Building Automation Tech Specialist provides advanced technical leadership in developing, implementing, final testing, startup, commissioning, and calibrating instrumentation devices within Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Management Systems (EPMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and Industrial Control systems (ICS). This role requires implementing multiple interconnected systems with advanced configurable integrations to ensure optimal performance, interoperability, and security. The specialist must possess a deep understanding of sophisticated electrical and mechanical distribution systems and assist in planning and executing complex projects while providing strategic guidance and technical expertise. This position may require local, regional, and national travel. **Responsibilities** + Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of complex BMS, EPMS, and SCADA systems with a focus on advanced configurable integrations. + Perform basic TCP/IP configuration. + Configure communication devices and troubleshoot communication link failures. + Configure Modbus Gateway devices and use applications like Modscan for troubleshooting and monitoring. + Understand vendor manuals and configure power meters, PDUs, ATS, generators, STS, UPS, and battery systems. + Navigate through EPMS and SCADA applications for monitoring, trending, and data retrieval. + Safely operate breakers for points monitoring, including opening, closing, racking-in, and racking-out. + Understand PLC applications for project loading, updating, and communication parameter configuration. + Prepare and review simple electrical sketches, CX plans, and data sheets. + Perform simple routine electrical and mechanical calculations. + Assist in reviewing supplier documentation for compliance with specifications. + Possess basic knowledge of commissioning, inspection, and testing of electrical components and systems. + Familiarity with basic electrical and mechanical theories and power systems, including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, power panels, protection relays, UPS systems, and power monitoring systems. + Perform Point to Point and functional startup scripts on EPMS/BMS systems. + Manage the progress of startup and issues lists, standards, and commissioning tools. **Essential Skills** + Minimum of 8 years of experience with installation, troubleshooting, and/or testing of EPMS, BMS, industrial instrumentation, and/or SCADA systems. + Proficiency in startup, Point to Point, commissioning, SCADA, troubleshooting, building automation, and controls. + Basic knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with Allen Bradley PLC, Ignition, Niagara, Siemens Desigo, Open Systems Interconnection (OSI), and instrumentation calibrators/simulators. **Why Work Here?** This is a temp-to-perm opportunity with a large and well-known contractor that consistently wins work and offers significant room for growth. **Work Environment** Work involves new build data centers and retrofitting existing sites. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Mc Lean, VA. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $64.90/hr.
