Budget Analyst
**Position: CONTRACT BUDGET ANALYST** **Location: Onsite in Boston, MA** **Pay: $27-33 an hr w2** **Position Summary:** The Budget Analyst will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a public-sector initiative by assisting the Senior Budget Analyst with budget development, monitoring, and reporting. This role requires hands-on experience with accounting processes and invoice management, particularly within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts' **MMARS (Massachusetts Management Accounting and Reporting System)** . **Key Responsibilities:** + Assist in the preparation, analysis, and monitoring of program budgets and financial forecasts. + Process and track invoices, purchase orders, and payments using MMARS. + Reconcile expenditures and ensure compliance with state financial policies and procedures. + Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting requirements. + Collaborate with program managers and vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies and ensure timely payments. + Maintain organized records of financial transactions and documentation for audit readiness. + Assist in preparing budget amendments and transfers within MMARS. + Provide analytical support for budget variance analysis and cost projections. + Participate in internal and external financial reviews and audits. **Required Qualifications:** + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or related field. + 2+ years of experience in budgeting, accounting, or financial analysis. + Familiarity with MMARS or other government financial systems. + Strong understanding of public sector accounting principles and procurement processes. + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools. + Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. + Strong communication and interpersonal skills. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Knowledge of government/state budget cycles and grant funding mechanisms. + Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
