SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)Registers and schedules patients for diagnostic tests accurately and efficiently in conformance with applicable guidelines to facilitate quality patient care. Collaborates with physician offices, clinics, central scheduling and directly with patients to schedule breast imaging. Oversee schedules of mammography and ultrasound to ensure correct test and script for imaging orders. Handles request for sooner appointments.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education:High school diploma or equivalency.

Experience:Five years' patient scheduling experience. Call center or customer service experience assisting patients within a hospital or medical environment. Knowledge of breast imaging protocols preferred.

Other Credentials:

Knowledge and Skills:Working knowledge of medical insurance plans. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Displays strong customer service and communication skills to properly assist patients' needs.

Special Training:Strong attention to detail.

Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities:Ability to multi-task and navigate between systems simultaneously. Manages time and works well in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSchedules breast imaging per request of department or offices.Collaborates with physician's office to schedule cases while negotiating date and time and avoiding resource conflicts.Gathers complete patient and procedure information and enters data accurately into database. Obtains and advises patients of all necessary pre-certification and referrals needed for financial reimbursement.Understands and utilizes necessary software program to determine "medical necessity" prior to scheduling a Medicare patient.Inform all patients of pre-registration options and pre-registers all patients when information is obtainable.Ensures all appropriate staff, patients, departments, and external resources are notified of additions, changes, and cancellations.Verifies all authorization are obtained twenty-four hours before date of service.Follows out of network procedures. Secures insurance authorizations and pre-certifications for outpatient services. Verifies pre-certification to ensure appropriate reimbursement.Uses knowledge and skills of pre-registration scheduling requirements and applies them during schedule review.Maintains proper communication skills with physician offices to obtain needed information for authorizations. Obtains and reviews physician orders for medical necessity coverage requirements.Possesses proficiency with all insurance plans and payor codes.Works closely with other hospital staff, providers, and patients to resolve any issues with missing or incomplete authorization and pre-registration to provide a smooth process.Communicates findings as appropriate to department management involved for incorrect scripts. Corrects in a timely manner.Coordinates call backs by obtaining scripts and scheduling patient. Coordinates short term follow up by obtaining scripts and scheduling patient.Coordinates with imaging support specialist regarding outside imaging or with patient directly that outside imaging is being brought in day of service.Coordinates with biopsy schedulers and offices for any prebiopsy imaging needed.Adheres to CH attendance policy as well as interdepartmental policies and procedures.Attend all mandatory departmental meetings.Performs all other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
