Job Description

The Bookkeeping Manager is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing daily accounting transactions, and ensuring the company’s financial data is complete, organized, and up to date. This role supports management by providing reliable financial information and assisting with basic financial reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily financial transactions, including accounts payable and accounts receivable.Manage AP invoices, payments, and expense reports.Reconcile bank accounts and oversee reconciliation of credit card statements.Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of entries.Prepare customer invoices and follow up on outstanding balances.Oversee payroll and coordinate payroll submissions.Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation.Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities.Prepare basic financial reports such as income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards.Support accountants and management during audits or tax preparation.

Essential Skills

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.Strong understanding of accounting principles beyond just AP & AR.Experience in job costing, AIA Billing, and WIP.Strong communication skills.Ability to handle confidential financial information.High attention to detail and accuracy.Proficiency with accounting software such as Foundation and ComputerEase.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.5+ years accounting experience in the Construction Industry.Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar accounting role.Experience managing or overseeing a small team of 2-3 people.Strong organizational and time-management skills.Team player with a strong foundation in job costing, AIA, and WIP.

Work Environment

This position is based in a small construction office located in Hyattsville. The office has been in business for close to 15 years and is currently in a major growth mode, offering room for career advancement. The role requires working on-site five days a week, from 8am to 5pm.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bladensburg, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $41.00/hr.
