Description A busy company in the Rockaway area is seeking a Bookkeeper to join their growing organization. This Bookkeeper will oversee financial records and ensure accurate reporting for our logistics operations. This Bookkeeper role involves managing day-to-day accounting tasks, preparing financial statements, and supporting audits to maintain compliance and foster informed decision-making. The ideal Bookkeeper will have experience with P& L and Balance Sheet creation/analysis and be local to the Rockaway area. Other responsibilities of this Bookkeeper will include but not be limited to: Bookkeeper Responsibilities: • Maintain and update general ledger records with precision and consistency. • Prepare detailed financial reports, including monthly, quarterly, and annual Profit & Loss statements. • Generate and manage balance sheets, ensuring accuracy in all supporting schedules. • Reconcile various accounts such as bank statements, credit cards, and other balance sheet items. • Handle accounts payable and receivable processes efficiently and in a timely manner. • Record journal entries and adjust financial records as necessary to reflect accurate data. • Assist in budgeting and forecasting activities to support financial planning efforts. • Monitor cash flow and promptly address discrepancies or irregularities. • Provide documentation and support during audits to ensure compliance with standards. • Maintain organized and accessible financial files and records in adherence to company policies. Requirements • At least 2 years of detail-oriented experience in bookkeeping or accounting. • Strong understanding of financial statements, reconciliations, and general accounting principles. • Proficiency in accounting software, including QuickBooks, and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel. • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all financial tasks. • Excellent organizational and time management skills to handle multiple responsibilities. • Ability to safeguard sensitive financial information and maintain confidentiality. • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred. • Familiarity with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation processes.
