Job Description
We are seeking a meticulous and organized Bookkeeper to maintain and reconcile company checkbooks and bank accounts. In this role, you will prepare and review monthly Profit and Loss Statements, ensuring all accounts are accurately reconciled. You will manage Positive Pay procedures to ensure check accuracy and prevent fraud, enter and categorize transactions in QuickBooks with precision, and assist with month-end and year-end financial closings. Collaboration with project managers and leadership is essential to ensure financial clarity on construction projects. Additionally, you will track and report on job costs and budgets, manage daily accounts receivables, payables, and payroll, and support audits and financial reviews as needed.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain and reconcile company checkbooks and bank accounts.Prepare and review monthly Profit and Loss Statements, ensuring accurate account tie-outs.Manage Positive Pay procedures to prevent check fraud.Enter and categorize transactions in QuickBooks accurately.Assist with month-end and year-end financial closings.Collaborate with project managers and leadership for financial clarity on construction projects.Track and report on job costs and budgets.Manage daily accounts receivables, payables, and payroll.Support audits and financial reviews as needed.Essential SkillsProficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online) with at least 3 years of experience.Strong understanding of checkbook balancing and reconciliation.Experience in preparing Profit and Loss Statements and ensuring month-end tie-outs.Familiarity with Positive Pay systems and check verification processes.Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with team members.Additional Skills & QualificationsConstruction industry experience is highly preferred.Work Environment
The role is 100% in-office, providing a collaborative environment where you will work closely with team members and leadership. The focus is on maintaining clear financial processes and ensuring accuracy in all bookkeeping tasks.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Edgewood, Maryland
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $36.05 - $40.86/hr.
