We are seeking a highly motivated, talented individual to join our Hydrogen research team to undertake research and analysis on the hydrogen economy. This will include building databases, creating your own quantitative and qualitative analysis, writing high quality reports, and regular client interactions. You will be part of BNEF’s global research team, with a focus on markets in Asia, particularly China. Preferred office location is Beijing, with Shanghai also considered.
We expect you to develop original opinions through critical examination and enjoy communicating these through writing and speech. Your quantitative skills must be strong, and you must have an exceptional eye for detail. You already have or can develop a network of research contacts and sales prospects that you draw on regularly. Teamwork must be important to you, and you should enjoy collaborating with colleagues and clients from a wide range of backgrounds.
We’ll trust you to: Conduct research on the policy, technology, and economic factors shaping the global and regional hydrogen industry, with a particular focus on ChinaEvaluate the economics for hydrogen use, assess policies, and analyze investments and company activitiesGather and organize datasets pertaining to these topicsPublish written research in English on the above topicsProduce quantitative analysis, market sizing estimates, policy/regulatory research and forecastsSpeak with industry figures and BloombergNEF clients to gather information and opinionsAddress client questions in a timely manner and present the team’s research to clients, prospective clients and at external conferencesYou’ll need to have: Demonstrated knowledge of the hydrogen sectorExcellent critical thinking and strong quantitative skillsBusiness-fluent English and ChineseStrong writing skills in EnglishStrong presentation skills in both English and ChineseAbility to work closely with other teams at BloombergNEF, including Carbon, Heating, Industry Decarbonization, Transport and Natural Gas sector teamsSelf-starter with efficiency and attention to detail, able to manage parallel tasksAbility to derive information from public sources and interviewsExcellent working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)We’d love to see: Graduate degree in sciences, economics or engineering, especially with coursework in chemistry or chemical engineeringExperience and an active network in the hydrogen sectorKnowledge of Python and SQL, or willingness to learnLife at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull.
