Biospecimen Coordinator
Job Title: Biospecimen CoordinatorJob Description

The Biospecimen Coordinator plays a crucial role in managing the flow and integrity of biological specimens within the laboratory setting. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, exceptional data entry skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various team members.

ResponsibilitiesReceive, sort, and accurately enter data for all specimens entering the laboratory.Verify information on requisition forms with collection containers for accuracy.Capture and enter specimen information into computer database systems (LIMS and Bioinventory).Enter necessary data and track accurately in multiple laboratory information management systems.Document within the electronic master file, including uploading/completing documents and using document exchange portals.Keep up with multiple project protocols and requirements.Examine specimen adequacy for processing.Label and measure volumes for specimen samples.Meet key production metrics and quality measures to ensure timely and accurate sample results.Take pictures of data on specimen containers for quality control purposes.Pack and ship specimens to proper facilities when required.Properly store specimen samples when required.Assist clients and project managers with inquiries about specimen requirements and test turnaround times.Identify and document situations that may impact sample integrity and notify management and project managers.Handle and dispose of medical and chemical waste.Sort and prepare all paperwork for scanning.Answer the loading dock door for incoming shipments and couriers.Perform administrative duties including filing paperwork and answering phones.Sanitize workstations.Work collaboratively with team members and demonstrate respect for all colleagues.Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company procedures and policies.Essential SkillsBachelor's Degree in Biology or related field.Strong data entry skills with no typing test required.Attention to detail.Comfortable with sample preparation, data entry, and specimen handling.Additional Skills & QualificationsPrevious medical or laboratory experience is a plus.Medical tech background, medical assistant, or science background/knowledge.Experience in specimen collection, processing, handling, pickup, and labeling.Clinical trial experience is preferred.Proficient with MS Office and Teams.Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.Exceptional organizational skills.Ability to perform with a high level of accuracy.Comfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine, and tissue samples.Ability to lift up to 40 lbs, work in protective equipment, and sit/stand for long periods.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.High level of attention to detail with the ability to solve problems.Willingness to work overtime when needed.Work Environment

The work environment involves biobanking, bioprocessing, and analytics. Candidates will work with incoming samples of saliva, DNA, blood, stool, urine, and more. The role requires the handling of biological materials and adherence to safety protocols while working in a professional laboratory setting.

This is a Contract position based out of Piscataway, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr.
