Job Summary:\rThe BioMedical Specialist is a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and provides clinical equipment services under minimal supervision of management. Duties include but are not limited to: Perform calibrations and repairs on equipment as assigned. Demonstrate knowledge of safe and approved troubleshooting techniques on medical devices. Read schematics and service manuals, consult with vendors and service representatives to assist in troubleshooting. Utilizes test equipment and complete complex repairs in a time and cost-effective manner with patient safety as the primary focus. Document work performed and any significant performance data accurately and in a timely manner. Provide leadership during project planning and equipment implementations. The Team Leader also serves as an advisor to administrative, medical, and clinical staff in the safe use and proper operation of clinical equipment and aids in the selection process for new equipment. Operates as part of a team of engineers responsible for providing in depth technical knowledge required to implement, manage, upgrade and support many applications and interoperability into EPIC and other repositories.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\rResponds to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, and perform corrective and preventive maintenance on complex biomedical equipment in the Specialists field of discipline. Coordinates work performed by service contractors and vendors, including maintenance and inspection, repair, calibration, installation and performance verification and completion of documentation of service.\rServes as a technical advisor to clinical personnel in the purchase of new instrumentation, designing of new systems, and modifying systems to meet special needs. Performs installation and deinstallations of equipment and other special projects. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of required safety precautions in the operation and maintenance of clinical equipment.\rCoordinates with WellStar IT in support of planning, installation and servicing integrated medical devices and systems into EPIC and other repositories. Demonstrates an advanced knowledge of internet protocols and networked systems.. Update/Install medical equipment to include security protocols and work with customers to provide design solutions maintaining technical and application standards. Works closely with all engineers across all teams including, Biomedical Engineering, Desktop Support, Systems and Network Engineering\rDocuments all repair, maintenance, installation, and other activity in a timely fashion using the departments equipment management software and other mechanisms as needed.\rPrepares and presents instructional material and conducts training in the techniques and methods of operation, problem diagnosis, and safe operation of medical systems for physicians, nurses, and allied health personnel. Serves as a customer relations representative for the department, correcting service deficiencies within the positions scope of responsibility and relaying other issues to the Program Manager. Has working knowledge of and appropriate interaction with other support departments necessary for performing the BioMedical Department function.within the positions scope of responsibility and relaying other issues to the Program Manager. Performs delegated functions of the BioMedical Engineering Department as delineated in the Medical Equipment Management Program Policies and Procedures Manual.\rEnsures proper care of Department, facility and peer tools and exercises judicious use of Department parts, supplies and other resources.\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education: or Associates Biomedical Engineering*** Format Error Associates Other \r\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rCTIA-A+ - CompTIA A+ Certification Upon Hire Preferred or\rCBET - Cert Biomed Engineering Tech Upon Hire Preferred or\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rMinimum 5 years of experience in supporting medical devices and systems in a hospital environment.\rRequired or\rMinimum 5 years Knowledge of electronic digital circuitry and understanding of electronic and electro-mechanical device Required\rRequired Minimum Skills:\rProficient in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Capable of interpreting building architectural and systems drawings and information. Medium\rAble to compose and deliver presentations regarding medical devices and systems to clinical staff.
