Biological Technician Field Support
**Job Description** **1. Position Summary:** An hourly Restoration Technician Field Support position is available with Colorado State University (CSU) and the Center for Environmental Management of Military Lands (CEMML) located at Beale Air Force Base, California. Beale AFB is an approximately 23,000-acre installation, located in Yuba County, California. The base is located east of Marysville and Yuba City and about 40 miles north of Sacramento in the rolling hills of northern California. The position will provide field and technical assistance to the Beale AFB natural resource program including preparing maintaining restoration sites, helping with species surveys (including special status species), nest box cleaning and monitoring, assisting with invasive species removal, and conducting grazing monitoring. In addition, the position will support other natural resource program support activities including data collection, construction monitoring, and helping with the implementation of a variety of projects identified in the Integrated Natural Resources Management Plan (INRMP) for the installation. **2. Conditions of Employment:** + Pre-employment Criminal Background Check (required for all new hires). + Maintain a valid driver’s license and meet CSU standards for driving throughout the course of employment. + Must be able to comply with all applicable regulations to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance. Furthermore, candidates are required at a minimum to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check to remain eligible for employment by CSU. + The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. by proposed start date; CEMML will not provide visa sponsorship for this position. **4. Supervision** No supervisory duties or tasks **5. Minimum Qualifications:** + BS/BA in ecology, natural resource management, or related field + Course work and/or experience with natural resource sampling andmonitoring techniques + Experience navigating with maps, compasses, and GPS + Knowledge of wildlife,flora,and fauna of California + Abilityto walk long distances in adverse terrain and weather conditions + Ability to lift 40 poundsrepeatedly withoutassistance. + Excellent oral and written communication skills + Must be able to work well with others in a team dynamic + Must be eligible to work in the United States by the proposed start date. CEMML will not provide visasponsorship for this position + Must have a valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain a driver’s license by employment start date + Must have a clean driving record + Must be able tocomply withall applicable regulations to obtain a Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC) and public trust clearance + Must be able to complete a NACI/SF85 and successfully pass a federal background check **6. Preferred Qualifications:** + Experience inspecies surveys. + Experience with construction monitoring. + Experience with ArcGIS, including map creation + Experience conducting special status species surveys + Experience on military lands + Experience conducting grazing monitoring surveys + Ability to work independently with limited supervision + Knowledge of and experience with Integrated Natural Resource Management Plans(INRMPs) + Ability tooperateand maintain 4-wheel-drive vehicles, ATVs, and power equipment + Experience with environmental educationforthegeneral public + Thorough knowledge of state, federal and safety lawsregardingconstruction and endangered species **7.
