Bioconjugate Scientist II
Job Description As a Scientist II specializing in Antibody Conjugation, you will play a crucial role in the production of fluorescently labeled bioconjugates. These conjugates are essential for cell signaling research initiatives. This position is based in Carlsbad, CA, and operates on the 2nd shift, from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Responsibilities + Perform hands-on manufacturing tasks in accordance with production schedules. + Conjugate monoclonal and polyclonal antibodies. + Execute accurate and aseptic lab techniques with good documentation practices. + Utilize general lab equipment such as centrifuges, spectrophotometers, and pipettes. + Conduct chromatography, buffer and reagent preparation, and operate FPLC (AKTA). + Initiate and own Problem Reports for deviations and failures. + Lead and model change for peers, maintaining a clean and safe work environment. + Complete all manufacturing batch records independently and accurately. + Open change orders and revise documentation related to the department. + Navigate laboratory database systems independently. + Follow all departmental SOPs, guidelines, and procedures. + Communicate issues effectively and in a timely manner. Essential Skills + Bachelor's degree in chemistry or biological science. + Must have skills; + Chromatography + AKTA- FPLC + Dye protein reactions + GMP/GLP/GDP + batch record + Minimum 2 years of experience in cellular or microbiology laboratory techniques within a manufacturing or R&D environment. + Proficiency with chromatography techniques. + Understanding of GLP and GMP processes and documentation. + Strong Microsoft Office Suite skills, especially in Excel, Outlook, and Word. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with AKTA machines and bioconjugation is preferred. + Excellent written and oral communication skills. + Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment. + Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail. + Experience with fluorescently labeled antibodies. + Experience owning problem reports, deviations, or CAPAs. + Familiarity with laboratory database systems or LIMS. + Experience in biotech or life sciences manufacturing. Work Environment This position is fully lab-based, with an assigned lab bench. The team operates on a 2nd shift with a total headcount of three, currently reduced to two due to leave. The work involves handling fumes or airborne particles and occasionally lifting weights up to 45 pounds with assistance. The lab environment requires adherence to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a sterile work environment. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $33.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
