Description VDC/BIM Specialist – Job Opportunity Location: Employment Type: Full-Time Department: Virtual Design & Construction / BIM About the Role We are seeking a motivated and detail‑oriented VDC/BIM Specialist to support high‑visibility, mission‑critical projects within our electrical construction portfolio. This individual will take ownership of select projects, driving model accuracy, design coordination, digital documentation, and collaboration with internal teams, engineers, and field personnel. Qualifications Minimum 2 years of relevant BIM/VDC experience or equivalent education/training At least 1 year of BIM modeling work in mission‑critical environments Strong analytical thinking and effective problem‑solving abilities Proficient computer skills and ability to adapt to new software Working knowledge of Bluebeam, Revit MEP, and Navisworks A genuine desire to learn, grow, and stay current with industry innovations Key Responsibilities Lead BIM/VDC efforts on designated high‑priority projects requiring additional focus and oversight Communicate effectively across teams, collaborate with managers, and help resolve project issues professionally Work with a high degree of independence while providing regular updates and coordinating with the VDC/BIM Manager Execute model layout, data input, system coordination, shop drawings, and as‑built documentation with support from the BIM team as needed Keep the VDC/BIM Manager informed of project progress to ensure resources are used efficiently across active projects Ensure project IPD workflows and LOD requirements meet contractual and owner expectations Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of Revit, Navisworks, and emerging BIM tools Coordinate electrical system design and layout to meet contract documents and Electrical Code standards Perform clash detection analysis and communicate findings quickly to project stakeholders Produce accurate 3D models representing current dimensions, materials, and design details Create construction drawings and documentation directly from BIM models Generate BIM‑based walk‑throughs and visualization models using Navisworks and Showcase Design‑Build / Design‑Assist Responsibilities Support Engineers and Preconstruction teams early in the design process—often before full engineering documents are available Assist in developing electrical construction documents, such as one‑line diagrams, load calculations, and lighting/power layouts Coordinate with the Engineer of Record to validate constructability for electrical rooms, racking systems, feeder routes, and lighting plans Perform coordination studies and scheduling efforts alongside other trades Provide on‑site BIM engineering support, monitor field installations, verify accuracy, and track changes Extract quantities, bills of materials, and schedules directly from BIM models Partner with vendors to integrate the latest electrical design and modeling technologies Offer layout guidance to project managers and superintendents before design is finalized Ensure all digital BIM files remain current, accurate, and fully accessible to the project team Skills Revit, Bim, Revit mep, hvac design, plumbing design, Process piping, Autocad, Navisworks Top Skills Details Revit,Bim,Revit mep,hvac design,plumbing design Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Charlotte, NC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $50.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
