Billing Analyst
Billing Analyst ***Must be local to Columbus, Ohio*** Job Description The Billing Analyst is responsible for billing operations analysis and customer service for large accounts. The Analyst will liaise with utility customers, both internal and external, to resolve routine and complex billing questions and requests, ensuring on-time and accurate billing. Responsibilities + Verify the accuracy of billing data, review, and analyze individual accounts, making independent decisions regarding billing activities. + Serve as the primary contact for large account billing management internally and externally through proactive communication with Sales and Customers. + Review all large account billings and identify billing discrepancies, determining the root cause of issues. + Recognize problem accounts and independently take the necessary steps to resolve issues and correct errors. + Create manual invoices at a detailed customer level, ensuring data integrity. + Review, analyze, and resolve unbilled cycles. + Communicate and maintain relationships with utilities to troubleshoot issues and verify data. + Work with IT to improve system-driven automation. + Accurately update and generate reports, analyze, and draw appropriate conclusions. + Comprehend and interpret EDI. + Ensure SOX Compliance and participate in the monthly close process. + Work closely with the Pricing team to understand pricing components, ensuring billing processes are aligned and stay updated on market-driven or Utility changes affecting billing determinants. + Ensure a high degree of customer service for both internal and external customers. + Ensure processes and training materials are documented and regularly maintained. Essential Skills + Bachelor's Degree or equivalent required, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management. + Minimum 3 years of billing, finance, or relevant business experience. + Advanced Excel and/or Microsoft Access skills to support data analysis. + Technical understanding of information systems. + Ability to read and interpret general business and technical documents. + Solid analytical and problem-solving skills. + Ability to interact with all levels of the organization. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Energy background or Energy billing experience is ideal. + Superior attention to detail and a conscientious attitude towards quality of work. + Ability to work independently with little instruction or supervision. + Effective problem-solving skills with the ability to identify alternatives and develop unique solutions. + Proactive approach, comfortable with change, uncertainty, and in-development conditions. + Resilient under stress and dealing with multiple demands. + Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, with the ability to explain and interpret issues clearly. Work Environment The role demands a proactive and independent approach, with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and multi-task effectively. The work environment involves frequent interaction with various levels within the organization, requiring clear communication and collaboration. The position offers a dynamic atmosphere, where adaptability and resilience are valued traits. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
