Big Data Software Engineer III - PySpark

As a Big Data Software Engineer III - PySpark at JPMorgan Chase within the Finance Technology team, you will be a key member of an agile team dedicated to designing and delivering market-leading technology products that are secure, stable, and scalable. Your role involves implementing critical technology solutions across various technical domains to support the firm's business objectives. You will assist the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Community and Consumer Banking by developing and maintaining financial software applications, automating data collection and reporting, and creating budgeting and forecasting tools. Your responsibilities include ensuring compliance with financial regulations, enhancing data security, and integrating financial systems for efficient operations. You will work closely with the CFO and financial team to translate their requirements into technical solutions, provide technical support, and identify opportunities for process improvements.

Job responsibilities

Executes software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problemsCreates secure and high-quality production code and maintains algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systemsProduces architecture and design artifacts for complex applications while being accountable for ensuring design constraints are met by software code developmentGathers, analyzes, synthesizes, and develops visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systemsProactively identifies hidden problems and patterns in data and uses these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architectureContributes to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologiesAdds to team culture of diversity, opportunity, inclusion, and respect

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on system design concepts and 3+ years applied experienceProficient in coding in back-end Python and SQLExperience in developing, debugging, and maintaining code in a large corporate environment with one or more modern programming languages and database querying languagesOverall knowledge of the Software Development Life CycleSolid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and SecurityDemonstrated knowledge of software applications and technical processes within a technical discipline (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)Understanding of Lake House architecture and ability to migrate data onto PySpark

 

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Exposure to cloud technologies - AWS/Public cloud strongly preferredExperience with Data Processing, Data Lake, and Databricks
