**Job Description:**
The Benefits Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing the accounting and financial reporting related to employee benefits, including separation benefits, paid time off, pension plans, 401(k), healthcare, and other post-employment benefits (OPEB). This role ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Manage the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements related to employee benefits, including separation benefits, and paid time off.
+ Ensure timely and accurate reporting of benefit plan activities in accordance with GAAP and other applicable standards.
+ Collaborate with HR, payroll, and external auditors to support benefit plan audits and ensure proper documentation.
+ Monitor changes in benefit regulations and accounting standards, assessing their impact and implementing necessary changes.
+ Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for benefit-related accounts.
+ Assist in the preparation of footnotes and disclosures for external financial reporting (e.g., 10-K, 10-Q).
+ Research and document technical accounting issues related to benefits, including separation benefits, paid time off, pension and OPEB accounting.
+ Develop and maintain internal controls over benefits accounting processes.
+ Provide leadership, coaching, and development to a team of accounting professionals.
**Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
+ 5+ years of relevant accounting experience, with a focus on benefits or external reporting.
+ Strong knowledge of GAAP, especially related to employee benefits and compensation.
+ Experience managing teams and driving process improvements.
+ Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
+ Proficiency in financial systems and Microsoft Excel.
**Preferred Skills:**
+ Familiarity with Oracle and OneStream
+ Knowledge of FASB standards related to pensions and OPEB (e.g., ASC 715).
