Job Description:
The Building and Systems Engineering (BaSE) PLC Supervisor is responsible for managing, supporting, and upgrading plant floor technologies across UPS facilities. This role leads project and process engineering efforts, identifies and resolves system issues, and collaborates with internal teams to implement cost-effective solutions that enhance productivity. Having a flexible travel schedule and work hours is required for this position. Travel requirements for this position can be as high as 80%, based on business demands.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and support PLC systems and plant floor technologies.
Lead engineering projects and troubleshoot system issues.
Provide fourth-level phone and field support for equipment failures.
Deliver system training during facility startups and project close-outs.
Maintain accurate site documentation (e.g., compliance tests, configurations, version control).
Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure system functionality and reliability.
Support system integration and provide technical assistance to facilities as needed.
Communicates assigned work status to colleagues to determine potential impact on the department’s schedule.
Qualifications:
Applicable Certifications or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science (required).
Experience with material handling systems and automation technologies (preferred).
Knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, and industrial control systems.
Programming experience including troubleshooting, basic understating of networks, motor control theory, and operation including basic AC and DC electrical troubleshooting - Preferred
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and simple diagrams
Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Flexible schedule and willingness to travel (up to 80%).
Compensation
Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $5,880 a month to $9,385 a month. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to, market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and education/training and a candidate’s work experience. Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
