JOB SUMMARY: Certified Controls Systems seeks a BAS Controls Technician to be responsible for commissioning and maintaining customer systems that use pneumatic, electrical, and electronic technology. They must update As-Built drawings and calibrate systems using electronic test equipment. The Technician will perform testing, programming, commissioning, and servicing, and maintain positive customer relationships.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

Implement the startup, commission, and re-commission of customer systems that utilize pneumatic / electrical / electronic technologyMaintain accurate As-Built drawing package and make changes in Visio, Excel, Word, as requiredResponsible for calibration of systems requiring basic electronic test equipment, such as multi-meters, network terminals and/ or a laptop computerImplement static (stand-alone) and dynamic (total building interactive network) commissioning of software programmingSet-up of operator workstations with all associated softwareManage process of turnover to serviceTrack and record job progress and keep lead project personnel informed on progressKeep project management apprised of concerns and issuesComplete paperwork on-time including time sheets, expense reports, posting of work orders, on-site documentation and project status reportsEnd to end testing, programming, starting up, commissioning, and servicing on assigned projects and accounts.Represents the company by serving as the direct customer contact and is responsible for servicing products and equipment on assigned projects, ensuring customer satisfaction by identifying, analyzing, diagnosing and repairing equipment and systems at customer's location.Coordinates with Controls manager, project managers, and customers to precisely understand requirements for all on-site installation and repairs by extensively examining building layouts, updating issues, gathering materials and synchronizing onsite work.Continually enforces safety to the highest standards and maintains security and accountability of company issued and procured assets.Maintain project related documentation including but not limited to commissioning documentation, daily reports, as-builts and status reports.Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with members of the company, clients, subcontractors, and other trade contractors.Anticipate and be able to meet short and/or unpredictable deadlines.Perform necessary point to point check-out, commissioning, diagnostic, and maintenance procedures on building automation systems, front-end workstations, servers, electric and pneumatic controls.Troubleshoot and repair building automation system panels, including communications equipment, printed circuit boards, power supplies, electrical/electronic controls, sensors, and transducers.Efficiently edit computer programs for building automation system points such as determining conversion patterns, defining point acronyms, and/or soliciting alarm specifications from operating personnel.Consult with Project Manager regarding scope additions and deductions, priorities and deadlines.Review contract documents and reconcile with RFIs, and project correspondence regarding approved additional scope to determine what scope should and should not be executed and confirm with the Project Manager.

Installation of HVAC automation systems required, knowledge base consisting of:

Assist with job commissioning, start-up procedures and owner training if necessaryPrepares sketches showing as-built location of wiring and equipmentAttend project meetings as necessaryAbility to work overtime, varied shift hours and occasional travel as neededEffectively able to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawingsCommunicate clearly and effectively with supervisor and crew membersWork independently and as a team member Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS: 

 

Education and Experience:

5 Years of experience with electrical experience (120vac, 24vac, 24vdc and 12vdc) preferably with low voltage control systems, including experience with ladder logic, relay logic, controllers, and field controllable devices.5 Years experience with mechanical systems, including chillers, air handlers, vav systems, boilers, and other mechanical equipment.Experience with the following programs or products Automated Logic, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls or Alerton products, systems & networks is a plus.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Start - up of control systems relating to building automation.Commissioning of control systems relating to building automation.Required to be well versed in multiple controls systems as they may be on a different site each day based on the service calls that come in on a daily basis.Maintain a good disposition with the customers and deal with them in a courteous manner at all times.Verify devices, panels, and annunciators of controls projects.
