About the Role
As a Hi-Lo-Bander at Atlas Tube, a division of Zekelman Industries, in Plymouth, Michigan, you will be responsible for operating banding equipment and the Hi-Lo to ensure finished product is safely removed from the mill to support continuous operations. This role is ideal for someone who is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

What You’ll Do

Follow workplace safety practices in accordance with company policy and OSHA requirements.

Follow verbal and written instructions to support daily operations.

Perform daily Hi-Lo inspections and report deficiencies.

Operate automated banding machines to prepare product for shipment and storage.

Write bundle identification information from bundle tags onto the side of each bundle.

Verify bundle details match the corresponding tag information.

Stud weld bundle tags to both ends of each bundle.

Inspect bundles for defects to support quality standards.

Drain excess coolant from bundles using the drain table.

Stack and align bundles using a Hi-Lo and transfer to the warehouse or cutting bay.

Assist with mill changeovers to support production requirements.

Perform daily preventive maintenance tasks to support equipment reliability.

Report irregularities or malfunctions to managers and/or maintenance.

Assist maintenance with repairs as needed.

Assist other operators during breakdowns, bottlenecks, and scheduled downtime.

Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Know and follow lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Maintain regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance per the posted schedule.

Who You Are

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Basic computer knowledge preferred.

Ability to use handheld measuring equipment such as micrometers and calipers preferred.

Experience using cutting torches preferred.

Hi-Lo license preferred.

Physical Abilities

Ability to operate a Hi-Lo and work safely around moving production equipment.

Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.

Ability to lift, move, and handle materials and tools as required for banding and packaging tasks.
