Duties & Responsibilities Customer Service & Engagement
Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a strong focus on fast and friendly service.
Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation recommendations.
Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; receive and resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director when needed.
Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via phone, intercom, and one‑on‑one interactions.
Bakery Operations & Production
Possess full knowledge of duties performed by all bakery department employees.
Oversee and assist with product preparation, baking, decorating, packaging, and display.
Implement proper and efficient product preparation, handling, and packaging techniques.
Maintain bakery case cleanliness, visual appeal, and inventory levels.
Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and professional appearance of the bakery area and equipment.
Maintain safe working conditions and ensure food safety standards are followed at all times.
Ensure correct product temperatures are maintained during preparation, display, and storage.
Execute daily operational plans and monitor production for efficiency and profitability.
Inventory, Merchandising & Shrink Control
Prepare sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every 4 weeks.
Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
Maintain inventory levels in alignment with division directives.
Stock and rotate product; maintain organized cooler and freezer conditions.
Build displays, rotate stock, and discard outdated or spoiled items.
Control shrink and manage cost‑related factors impacting profitability.
Enforce proper code‑dating for all products within the department.
Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
Staff Supervision, Training & Development
Schedule, supervise, and assign duties to bakery employees to ensure adequate coverage and strong service levels.
Train employees on store policies, procedures, product preparation, sales techniques, and record‑keeping requirements.
Identify employees with high potential and support their development.
Monitor productivity, coach for improvement, and evaluate performance.
Execute personnel actions including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary actions.
Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
Receiving, Records & Administrative Responsibilities
Perform receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting product quality, and reporting shortages.
Adhere to product temperature, storage, and packaging guidelines.
Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
Ensure proper execution of opening and closing procedures for the department.
