Job Title: Interim Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance

Location: Hartford, CT

Reports To: CFO

Job Summary: Our client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Interim Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Finance to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in full cycle accounting and a strong background in higher education finance. This role is critical in ensuring the financial health and sustainability of the institution during this interim period.

Key Responsibilities:

•\tOversee the full cycle accounting process, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting.

•\tEnsure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as institutional policies and procedures.

•\tPrepare and present financial statements, budget reports, and financial forecasts to senior leadership and the Board of Trustees.

•\tManage the annual budget process, including the development, implementation, and monitoring of the budget.

•\tProvide strategic financial guidance and support to various departments and units within the college.

•\tLead and mentor the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.

•\tCollaborate with external auditors during the annual audit process and ensure timely and accurate completion of audit requirements.

•\tDevelop and implement financial policies and procedures to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.

•\tParticipate in strategic planning initiatives and provide financial analysis to support decision-making.

•\tMonitor cash flow, investments, and debt management to ensure the institution's financial stability.

•\tConduct financial risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate potential financial risks.

•\tOversee grant management and compliance, ensuring proper allocation and reporting of grant funds.

•\tCoordinate with other administrative departments to streamline financial operations and improve overall institutional effectiveness.

Qualifications:

•\tBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or MBA preferred.

•\tMinimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a higher education setting.

•\tDemonstrated experience in full cycle accounting and financial management.

•\tStrong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting processes.

•\tExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

•\tProficiency in financial software and systems, such as ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.

•\tExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.

•\tProven leadership and team management abilities.

•\tHigh level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.

•\tExperience with grant management and compliance in a higher education context.

•\tAbility to work collaboratively with various departments and external partners.

•\tStrong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Hartford, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $150000.00/yr.

Company benefits will be provided by our client once an offer is extended.

Workplace Type

This is a fully onsite position in Hartford,CT.
