Day (United States of America)Job Summary:\rThe AVP of GME and UME will report to the VP Academic Affairs for WellStar Health System (WHS) and will be responsible for strategic project and operational management for the administration of the WHS GME & UME programs. The individual in the role will bring expert large-scale project implementation expertise to the System's GME and UME programs. This includes oversight of the clinical learning environment, interprofessional education, simulations services, and all student clinical rotations. This position requires analytics of existing progress and project design to ensure success.\rThe position will work collaboratively with a team of experts in regulatory compliance, legal, HR, marketing, revenue cycle, physician compensation, and construction at the corporate and facility level for GME and UME programs and requirements for maintenance of GME and UME accreditation. He/she will partner with the system leadership in the design phase of education regarding GME and UME strategies, operations, projects and methods. The position provides essential and required communication to senior and facility leadership, hospital leaders, GME and UME leadership, teaching faculty, and residents/fellows.\rThe individual in this role will coordinate and advocate for resources (IT, administrative, financial, space, marketing, etc.) needed in both inpatient and outpatient settings to build a robust GME and UME enterprise. This leader will also collaborate with external academic entities and interface with the State, the Governor's office and external legal counsel. The AVP GME and UME will work in conjunction with various WellStar leaders and will oversee the launch and stabilization of the GME and UME programs for WellStar Health System as it advances in providing support, development and education to those who provide world-class healthcare.\rCore Responsibilities and Essential Functions:\rOrganizational Management\r* Sets a tone of leadership that is people-oriented and collaborative in nature\r* Evaluates performance of assigned operational units as well as the performance of key supervisors\r* Engages in a positive working relationship with the members of GME and UME team, Medical Staff and other hospital staff\r* Fosters continuous improvement in customer satisfaction/patient experience\r* Continuously identifies how structure or function can be improved.\rProject /Operational Management of administrative aspects of WHS GME and UME programs\r* Develops business strategies for GME and UME improvements and implementation\r* Creates and executes project work plans with associated communication documents and revises as appropriate to meet the changing needs and requirements, including mission-critical steps\r* Effectively communicates project expectations to senior leadership, facility leadership, and GME and UME leadership in a timely and clear fashion\r* Identifies resources needed and assigns individual responsibility\r* Monitors the progress of individual project steps\r* Focuses on high levels of efficiency and effectiveness for overall project and individuals involved with the project\r* Assists GME and UME leadership (who serves as the conduit for all GME and UME issues that need to go to the executive leadership [including budget and long range strategic issues/planning]) with preparation of requested materials.\r* Understands ACGME regulations, CMS rules and regulations, corporate compliance and revenue cycle operational concerns as it all relates to the GME and UME programs.\rFinancial Management\rMaintains fiscal integrity and control for GME and UME programs\rWorks with institutional finance experts, Organizational Learning leaders, the DIO and program directors to develop the budget for GME and UME needs\rAdvocates for philanthropy for GME and UME\rManages current/future budget and strategic capital.\rStrategic GME Management\r* Along with the WellStar Senior Leadership, GME and UME leadership, develops long-range strategy for GME and UME programs (including new programs, protection of the GME Cap)\r* Develops and implements effective change management strategies to address the transition from a non-academic, fee-for-service culture, to one that supports and rewards medical educators; this effort should address specialists from all programs and those for whom there is not a specific linked program\r* Ensures program structure supports progress and advancement, for example:\r* Revision/Confirmation of Medical Staff Bylaws\r* Revision of House Staff Manual\r* Design of Student Orientation\r* Finalizing Student Agreement\rPerforms other duties as assigned\rComplies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.\rRequired Minimum Education:Masters Business Administration/Management-Preferred or Masters Health Science-Preferred or Masters Other or Bachelors Business Administration/Management-Preferred\r\rRequired Minimum License(s) and Certification(s):\rAll certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.\rAdditional License(s) and Certification(s):\rRequired Minimum Experience:\rMinimum 5 years Healthcare experience, preferably in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Required and\rStrong preference for individuals who have experience leading large, cross-functional teams Required and\rDemonstrated success with planning, organizing, implementing large scale projects. Required and\rExperience with graduate/undergraduate medical education or academic programs is desired Preferred and\rRequired Minimum Skills:\rMust have strong communication skills and be proficient in project management and team building.\rAbility to apply regulatory requirements for accreditation of GME training programs at the institutional and program level., Ability to establish work priorities, delegate assignments as appropriate and follow through to ensure completion of activities\rDemonstrated ability to utilize specialized software programs.\rDemonstrated initiative, resourcefulness and creativity in problem-solving.\rAbility to work with and communicate very effectively with individuals with diverse training and backgrounds as well as all levels of management in both a written and verbal capacity.Join us and discover the support to do more meaningful workâand enjoy a more rewarding life.
