Avionics Technician
Job Title: Avionics TechnicianJob Description

Join an innovative team in the aerospace industry and contribute to the development of advanced spacecraft. This role involves working on the unique avionics architecture of a full fly-by-wire spaceship. Key tasks include harness installation, wire tying, wire bundle routing, wire stripping, terminations, and troubleshooting. Utilize various shop tools and machinery such as multimeters, soldering irons, crimpers, wire strippers, and cutters.

ResponsibilitiesFabricate and assemble avionics components, including wire harnesses, data acquisition units (DAU), and sensors, and install them on the spaceship.Support the manufacturing team in the installation, design, development, and testing of parts and technologies used on aircraft or in space exploration.Adhere to directions and guidelines provided by team leaders to ensure effective collaboration across teams for project completion.Provide technical and operational input for assessment, repair, and maintenance recommendations in support of assigned programs.Work on moderately difficult manufacturing assignments, exercising judgment in issue resolution or recommendations.Ensure quality and efficiency of installations, including troubleshooting, and provide guidance in troubleshooting processes and concepts.Follow assembly instructions for accurate completion of complex project assemblies.Practice safety behaviors and Foreign Object Debris (FOD) awareness/prevention while adhering to regulatory protocols and rules.Work collaboratively to achieve goals and complete assigned tasks.Essential SkillsWire harness installation and electrical troubleshooting.Experience in avionics installation and avionics systems.Minimum of three years of experience in aircraft fabrication and assembly or equivalent industry.Proficiency in using computer applications to follow manufacturing work instructions.Ability to read and interpret drawings, blueprints, and/or models on paper or digital.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or equivalent.Experience with aircraft wire harness fabrication and installation, as well as LRU build-up and installation.Willingness to learn cutting-edge spacecraft manufacturing techniques.Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) training preferred.Knowledge of providing quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.Collaboration skills for technical projects with fellow technicians or interdepartmental functions.Effective communication skills, embracing timely, respectful, and open dialogue.Familiarity with lean manufacturing philosophies and tools.Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and use personal protective equipment (PPE).Why Work Here?

Work Environment

Work in a temperature-controlled aircraft hangar, with some humidity due to the nature of the aircraft parts. The role is based on a 2nd shift schedule from 4 PM to 2:30 AM, Thursday to Sunday, with the possibility of overtime. The initial contract is for six months, with potential for permanent placement based on performance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.
