Job Description
The Avionics Manager is responsible for overseeing the repair station's avionics function and supervising a team of four technicians within the maintenance department. This role involves ensuring that equipment is functioning properly, and that tools, materials, and personnel are available and working productively. The Avionics Manager ensures all work activities are executed safely and completed on schedule. The position requires close consultation with the Service Center Manager, Chief Quality Inspector, and Director of Maintenance to ensure all work adheres to the repair station manual.
ResponsibilitiesManage all aspects of the avionics team, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and corrective actions.Serve as the subject matter expert in avionic maintenance, repair, and alteration of aircraft components.Oversee timely and accurate avionics quotes and collaborate with maintenance sales on estimates and scheduling.Communicate with sales and customers regarding the status of in-work aircraft and provide customer walkthroughs upon delivery.Generate electrical engineering diagrams via CAD including parts and master drawing lists.Create certification documents including 337, Flight Manual Supplements, EMI/RFI procedures, and weight and balance.Coordinate with avionics dealers like Collins, Garmin, and Honeywell to ensure compliance with dealership agreements and insurance requirements.Manage department-specific databases and subscriptions for the fleet, including XM weather and NOAA ELT bi-annual renewals.Ensure the parts procurement process is followed and collaborate with customers for order approvals.Audit work orders during and after completion for proper time allocation and nomenclature.Research manufacturer technical data and perform inspection, testing, adjusting, and repair of avionics equipment.Provide installation support when discrepancies in aircraft configuration or drawings arise.Inspect avionics equipment components for defects and ensure accuracy of assembly and installation.Test avionics equipment under simulated or actual operating conditions to determine performance and airworthiness.Essential Skills5+ years of experience in aircraft avionics.Leadership experience in a supervisory or managerial role.CAD experience in manipulating and interpreting drawings for layouts.Experience with commercial avionics products from Collins, Garmin, and Honeywell.Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.Additional Skills & QualificationsBachelor's degree in aviation management, engineering, business, or related field preferred.2 years of leadership experience within an avionics or maintenance organization preferred.FCC General Radio Operator License preferred.Airframe and Powerplant License preferred.Experience using Corridor and maintenance/parts manual access software.Familiarity with aircraft such as DC9, MD87, Lear 31/35, Pilatus, Phenom, Mustang, and Gulfstream.Why Work Here?This is a full-time role that offers the opportunity to develop and lead the department. The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $151000.00/yr.
