A growing aerospace and defense manufacturer is seeking Aviation Structural / Sheet Metal Mechanics at both the Intermediate and Advanced level. This role supports high‑mix aerospace fabrication and military programs in a clean, temperature‑controlled service center (non‑airport environment).
Position OverviewThis position is responsible for hands‑on sheet metal fabrication, structural assembly, and component repair for aerospace applications.
The ideal candidate will have strong sheet metal fundamentals and blueprint experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesPerform metal fabrication tasks including cutting, trimming, drilling, forming, fitting, marking, dent removal, and assemblyFabricate and repair sheet metal and tubular exhaust components (highly desired experience)Assemble and repair aerospace structural components and duct workRead and interpret blueprints, work instructions, and drawingsSupport welding fabrication processes (TIG exposure preferred)Perform basic composite and insulation processes, including:Hand lay‑upCuringTrimmingInsulation wrappingUse hand tools, power tools, and shop equipmentMeasure and inspect parts using tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and scalesMaintain safety, quality, and cleanliness standards in a production service‑center settingRequired QualificationsIntermediate Level - 32-38/hr
2+ years of sheet metal / metal fabrication experienceExperience with forming, fitting, and structural assemblyAbility to read blueprints and use precision measurement toolsComputer and ERP system experienceAdvanced Level - 33-45/hr
5+ years of aerospace or aviation sheet metal experienceAdvanced blueprint interpretation and independent fabrication abilityStrong experience in complex assemblies and repairsComputer and ERP system experienceWork Schedule & Environment1st Shift: 7:00 AM – 3:30 PMTypically 40–45 hours per week, with some Saturdays as neededStable workload with consistent overtime when availableClean, climate‑controlled shop environmentNot located on an airport or flight lineTravel: Initial travel to California for training required
