Job Title: Automotive Technician - East Hartford, CT

Job Description

Materials & Processes Engineering is seeking a highly motivated and skilled technician to work in an Applied Mechanics Lab. This position plays a crucial role in executing various component tests essential for the design and manufacturing of commercial and military engines, ensuring safety and durability.

Responsibilities

Execute a variety of component test types including low and high cycle fatigue, spin testing, ballistic impact, static load, thermal cyclic, and load/strain calibrations.Manage unique test applications that require custom or one-off builds.Assemble test rigs, prepare test frames, and install strain gages and thermocouples.Set up and operate data systems, troubleshoot electronic and mechanical systems, and perform some fabrication tasks.Commit to Environmental, Health and Safety compliance and assist in the development of advanced test techniques and processes.

Essential Skills

AA/AS degree in an engineering or technical field.Knowledge of and experience with electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and general computer skills.Automotive Technician background

Additional Skills & Qualifications

2+ years of relevant laboratory, repair/overhaul shop, or mechanical testing experience.Basic PLC programming experience.Ability to read fabrication and installation prints, including GD&T.

Work Environment

The position is based in a lab setting within an R&D environment focused on testing aerospace engine components. The team consists of 20 people, including 10 engineers and 10 technicians. The role involves spending 75% of the time in the lab and 25% at a desk updating data. The lab is equipped with offices, desks, workbenches, and separate testing rooms.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of EAST HARTFORD, CT.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $40.00/hr.
