Automotive Mechanic II Engine R&R*Must have own toolsAllen Park, MI Company makes prototype vehicles
Day Shift: 6am-5:30pm M-F, 6am-2:30 on Saturday - 6 days a week
Pay: Up to $23/hr (or more for a qualified technician)

Job Summary:
The Automotive Mechanic II will modify cars and trucks in a prototype environment, performing a wide range of diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance. The Automotive Mechanic II will perform independent project tasks and collaborate with customers and team members.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:• Maintain vehicle functional condition by working off repair orders or leader instructions and conducting inspections.• Engine removal and replacement
• Repair mechanical and electrical system malfunctions and replace parts and components.
• Read, interpret, and follow service procedures.
• Maintain vehicle records by entering notes, service, and repair orders.
• Keep shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs.
• Participate in daily shop organization and clean-up.
Education and Experience (required):
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 4 years of work experience as a Mechanic.
• Knowledge of mechanical assembly and ability to operate shop equipment.
• Good attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Has own tools with rolling toolbox and able to work overtime and weekends.
• Ability to read, comprehend and execute written procedures.
Education and Experience (preferred):
• Certificate in Engineering Technology or related.• National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s). • Experience with automotive powertrain systems or electric battery systems.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities (preferred):• Certificate in Automotive Technology or related.
• National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s).
• State Mechanic Certification(s).
• Valid driver’s license.
• Knowledge of vehicle alignments, air conditioning (A/C) system repairs, tire machines and balancers.
Company will offer an incentive in the amount of $300 for each experienced contractor selected
Position is long term contract to hire
