Job Title: Automation TechnicianJob Description

The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site and remote technical support to customers, including the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and repair of automated machinery. This role involves hands-on tasks such as machine assembly, testing, and troubleshooting before shipment, requiring strong technical knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic systems, as well as the ability to work independently and professionally with customers. Up to 20% domestic and international travel is required.

ResponsibilitiesInstall, commission, and start up automated machinery at customer facilities.Perform machine building, wiring, assembly, and testing before shipment.Diagnose and resolve electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and programming issues.Conduct system troubleshooting and calibration both in-house and at customer sites.Read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical documentation.Utilize PLC and HMI software for troubleshooting and adjustments.Provide technical training for operators and maintenance personnel.Deliver remote support to customers via phone and electronic communication.Accurately document service activities, findings, and recommendations.Essential SkillsProficiency in PLC troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning.Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical and electrical systems.Experience with automation systems, VFD, HMI, and servo motors.Knowledge of electrical design and controls engineering.Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and mechanical drawings.Proficiency with hand tools, multimeters, and precision measuring equipment.Strong communication and customer interaction skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, or related technical field, or equivalent work experience.3–5 years of hands-on experience with automated machinery or industrial equipment.Experience with PLC and motion control systems (Servo, VFD).Bilingual candidates are a plus.Valid passport or ability to obtain one.Work Environment

The work environment involves being onsite in the shop working on machines or in the field commissioning. Domestic and international travel is required for up to 20% of the time, with trips typically lasting less than a week. The company provides a travel allowance of $100 per day for expenses.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of New Berlin, WI.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $48.08/hr.
